Yoga Books for Students of All Ages


There are tons of yoga books out there, for kids, adults, and everyone in between. Since you’re busy, we’ve done the research for you and picked the best books about yoga and mindfulness for kids. Here they are, organized for age groups.

Little Kids (PreSchool – 3rd grades)

Good Morning Yoga features gentle exercises for little people and their parents to begin the day, while Good Night Yoga does the same for bedtime. Using a narrative and beautiful illustrations, they also give tips for dealing with frustrations that may pop up during a child’s day.

My Daddy is a Pretzel, Baron Baptiste

Written by the man who created the popular Baptiste style of yoga, this book was written for parents and children to use together. It gives examples of integrating yoga into everyday life, and showcases a wide range of postures.

Middle Kids (4th – 8th grades)

Even though this book focuses on girls, you can still get some great tips or ideas that you can tweak for the boys. It includes poses, breathing and meditation exercises, as well as information about the history of yoga. Geared toward girls age 9 – 13.

I love Yoga, Ellen Schwartz

This book presents the history of yoga, as well as the benefits and misconceptions and includes some basic postures. There is a also information about how to do yoga for people with physical disabilities.

High School Kids (9th – 12th grades)

Although older kids may be ready for adult books, it might be nice to have something specific for teens. This book is a clear step-by-step instructions and photos guide you through more than 80 specific yoga poses.

Written for beginners, this includes complete yoga routines from 15 minutes to more than an hour, as well as meditations and instructions. The author was named one of 2016’s most influential yoga teachers in America.
